DJ Spoony, MC Onyx Stone, Pioneer and Masterstepz kickin it down

So most of us probably didn't imagine we would be spending the first few gorgeous days of spring being mocked by the sun in our homes. So far most public events have been cancelled and festival season is looking like a myth.

As always though, there is a bright side to everything. Dolphins are cavorting in the River Thames (I think), Bambi's have been spotted running around Camberwell (probably), newly un-extinct rhinos have taken over Catford (true) AND DJ Spoony has been blessing us with tunes live from his house, every weekend (actually true).

Following the cancellation of Southport Weekender, just a few days before Spoony was due to perform, the generous DJ got together with a few other legends: Norris Da Boss Windross, Masterstepz, DJ Pioneer and MC Onyx Stone and spontaneously delivered a unique edition of 'Spoony's House' via Facebook Live on March 20th. It was like a flashback to pirate radio with MC Onyx Stone bubbling over some tracks which we haven't heard in years (yes vinyl was in the building!)

Alas, social distancing is a thing and while it was perfect seeing them all play together, the following two editions have been just the man himself entertaining the great unwashed for 3 hours every day from Friday to Sunday.

Not to mention he's also raising money for the NHS via gofundme. The target started out as £5000 but when that was smashed in one weekend it was raised to £15,000.

So every weekend you can donate what you would usually spend on the bar/teefing cloak room and feel doubly good about it. Donate.

One of the biggest things we've learnt through this is how music has a special way of making us all feel unified. It's been so heartwarming to see DJ's sharing their talent and energy at this time. Major big ups to Spoony, Masterstepz, DJ Pioneer, MC Onyx Stone and Norris Da Boss Windross for being one of the first UK DJ's/MC'S to do it!
